Controls You Can Use

You can manage your own account security through the app. You can:

  • Freeze your account or card from the app if you suspect misuse.
  • Review transaction history at any time.
  • Update your contact details and notification preferences.

Common Fraud Signs

Watch the following:

  • Calls or messages asking for your OMPAY password, PIN, or OTP.
  • Requests to install screen-sharing or remote-access software.
  • Offers, prizes, or refunds that require an upfront payment to claim.
  • Messages with suspicious links, attachments, or look-alike domains.
  • Pressure to act quickly to avoid account closure.
  • Unverified social media accounts impersonating OMPAY or its staff.

How to Report Fraud

If you suspect fraud on your account, act fast:

  • Use the in-app freeze function to block further activity.

  • File a police report where required.

What Happens After You Report

  • We acknowledge your report and open a case reference.
  • We may temporarily suspend the account or specific transactions to limit further loss.
  • We investigate using transaction data, device evidence, and customer information.
  • We share outcomes with you in line with applicable timeframes and confidentiality obligations.

Your Responsibilities

To benefit from fraud protection, you should:

  • Keep your password, PIN, and OTP confidential.
  • Use the latest version of the OMPAY app from the official app stores.
  • Avoid jailbroken or rooted devices.
  • Avoid public Wi-Fi for financial transactions where possible.
  • Report suspicious activity without delay.
  • Verify the merchant or recipient before sending money.

Liability for Unauthorized Transactions

Where you report unauthorized transactions promptly and follow your security obligations, OMPAY applies Central Bank of Oman consumer protection rules in determining liability. Liability may shift to you where the loss results from your gross negligence, fraud, or failure to report within stated timeframes.
